About Joanna

Hello! My name is Joanna, and this is my portfolio. I’m currently a 4th year student at UC Berkeley, expecting to graduate come 2010.

I’m a freelance graphic and web designer, with 6 years of experience in working with small businesses and nonprofits to create dynamic solutions for both web and print media. I especially love working with organizations and individuals to create an effective online presence, and am generally open to projects of any size. I am proficient in website interface layout, UI design, XHTML and CSS, with an eye for clean, professional design, web standards and usability.

I’m also a published writer, having written for The San Jose Mercury News, The Daily Californian, and many smaller publications. I will graduate in 2010 with a BA in English, and while I’ve always lived to write, I will soon write to live.

Over the past few years, I’ve also picked up photography as a hobby, and I couldn’t love it more. I still entertain the idea of freelancing and doing travel photography in the future.

Apart from my creative ambitions, I imagine my life to be fairly simple. By day, I study and work; by night, not much else. I love my piano and newly purchased guitar. I live for “service above self,” and adore white space, traveling, and the occasional good read.
